Marlon didn’t always know he was to be an actor. In middle school, while choosing elective classes for high school, he overheard a teacher praise a classmate’s potential in drama. A spark ignited within him as he thought, “I’d be better than him.” On a whim, he chose theatre as his elective. What started as a casual decision quickly transformed into a lifelong passion.
However, life took Marlon on a different path. Despite his early love for acting, he spent twenty years away from the stage, distracting himself by working as a bartender and abusing drugs and alcohol. Still, the call of the craft never truly faded.
During the pandemic, Marlon and his partner, Lauren, decided to change their lives. They boldly decided to leave Florida and return to New York City with their daughter and family dog. The move reignited his passion for the craft he once loved. The city’s vibrant acting scene beckoned, reminding him of the dreams he had put on hold.
Rediscovering his confidence, Marlon embraced his true calling and signed up for a one-year acting program with Seth Barrish and Lee Brock at The Barrow Group. The love for acting had always been there; he needed to believe in himself again. He is ready to pursue his dream with renewed determination, proving that it’s never too late to follow your heart and reignite old passions.
